How Much Does It Cost to Trek Poon Hill 2026/27?

Poon hill Trek is located in the Annapurna region of Nepal towards the north of Pokhara Valley. Poon hill Trek is one of the most popular short treks in Nepal ideally good for short time trekking holiday which is situated in the foothills of the Annapurna Himalayan range.

The trek also covers some part of the Annapurna Base Camp trail. The significant highlight of this trek is undoubtedly the climb of Poon hill located at 3210 meters from sea level.

The Poon hill is the best viewpoint for the panoramic views of the 32 snow-capped mountains including Annapurna (8,091m) and Dhaulagiri (8,167m). The guide will wake you up early morning to catch the stunning sunrise view from the Poon hill.

One of the popular villages of Poon hill Ghorepani trekking route is Ghandruk and the Ghandruk has a large traditional settlement of Gurung ethnic people. The views are simply wow following the well-developed trekking trail.

How Much Does It Cost to Trek Poon Hill?

Poon hill Trek cost is from USD 350 to USD 500 per person. The trek cost varies by number of days, seasons, use of porters, and so on. If you’re a solo traveler or traveling without a guide, the cost may decrease to a certain level, but responsibility increases.

You can adjust most of the things that determine the Poon hill trek cost. This way you can adjust according to your needs and desires.

Nayapul is the starting point of the trek, which lies about an hour drive from Pokhara. The trekking route then begins to pass through ravishing forests of the rhododendron and several villages of the Magar and Gurung to Ghorepani. Ghorepani is a small town at 2,874m, where you spend the night before the hike up to Poon hill in the morning.

Please note: There are no ATMs on the trekking route. Make sure to bring at least $100 more than you think you’ll need in case of an emergency. We’ve seen several people who ran out of money during the trekking, and it’s not enjoyable trying to figure out how to go back home without enough money.

Budgeting for the 4–5 day Ghorepani Poon Hill loop comes down to two main expense categories: your permits and getting to and from the trailhead.

Permits

You’ll need two permits before you set foot on the trail, both checked at Birethanti and other checkpoints along the way:

  • ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Permit): NPR 3,000, roughly USD 25–30
  • TIMS Card: NPR 2,000, roughly USD 15–20

Combined permit cost: around USD 40–50.

Both can be arranged at Tourism Board offices in either Pokhara or Kathmandu — bring your passport and a couple of passport photos. One thing that’s changed: as of 2026, independent solo permits aren’t being issued for this route anymore, so you’ll need to book through a licensed guide or registered trekking agency, who can typically handle the permit paperwork for you.

Getting to and from the Trailhead

Pokhara → Nayapul (where the trek begins):

  • Local bus: USD 2–5
  • Shared jeep: USD 8–10 per person

Ghandruk → Pokhara (the return leg):

  • Jeep or bus: USD 4–5

Total transport: roughly USD 15–25, depending on whether you go local-bus-cheap or jeep-comfortable.
